A single text, two subjects of the linguistic area: the English language, normally the first foreign language, combined with a second language, chosen from French, Spanish and German.
NUOVO DUO is a project for summer holidays including two volumes and an audio CD to revise the two languages provided in the junior high school. It is well balanced as it takes into consideration the different number of hours assigned to the study of the first foreign language and to the second one. Consequently, a larger number of pages focuses on the revision the English language.
The main goal is to guide students of the first and the second class in an accurate revision of both languages, which allows to strengthen the knowledge acquired during the year and to easily deal with the return to school after the summer break.
Dealing with two languages, the entire project can be combined with any chosen course as it focuses on the topics usually covered during the first and second year of the junior high school. Simple and clear training paths allow students to work independently and practice all the topics. Within each path, a wide range of exercises allows students to develop specific skills, while the consolidation of grammar structures is focused by short grammar boxes.
Attached to each volume there is a booklet for the teacher including keys of all the activities and the transcriptions of the listening exercises. Furthermore, there is a final test that the teacher can use to check how much the students have practiced during summer holidays or as an entry test.
The volume has been created with the aim of consolidating and verifying the English language skills following to the National Guidelines and the A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

NEW GEAR UP is a book mainly addressed to technical and professional institutes related to Mechanics, Mechatronics and Power. Simple, clear and full of contents, this book is focused on micro-language learning, according to the CLIL criteria, through texts about technical topics related to the main subjects of the course. The technical texts are short and essential and they take into account the students prerequisites and their attention spans.
Moreover, there are a lot of readings and activities that arise from technical contents, provide general culture and civilization topics, possibly leading to discussions even about current events related to the area of interest and with fundamental contents. In addition to an introduction whom main goal is to evaluate the students beginning levels, the modular subdivision of the text is of inter-disciplinary nature: in fact, every module corresponds to a subject of the course. The technical text is divided into 7 modules; the last of them includes subjects related to mechatronics, otherwise mechanics, electronics and information technology, in consideration of the new technical and professional course that attributes value to mechatronics. Module 8 is very innovative: an integration of social and literary nature that proposes some topics related to Great Britain, United States and Ireland civilizations. The suggested topics are focused on the first industrial revolution period, victorian age until more recent times with references to the modern technoogy applied to music and cinema. The volume is completed by “Focus on looking for a job”, dedicated to the entry into employment. The appendix includes a lot of grammar references, the vocabular of terms present in the text and a list of acronyms.
The text has been entirely conceived and developed following the CLIL criteria. Therefore, the didactic units allow, according to the ministerial provisions, to bring the majority of technical topics in English. Furthermore, the volume is extremely innovative and multimedia; especially through various links, indicated in the printed volume and inserted in the e-book, the student can have access to a lot ofThe text features also the:

The project
An engaging and motivating proposal, designed by a team of international experts to easily meet the needs of teachers, kids and their families. The Jingle course is full of valuable didactic instruments that allow the creation of easily manageable, customised courses.
The spiral linguistic path allows a constant revision and enrichment of the lexical areas and structures with a gradual progression year after year.
A lot of attention has been dedicated to volumes 4 and 5 of both the revision and the preparation for student beginning junior high school. For this reason, pages have been created ad hoc to consolidate the vocabulary, the communication skills and the grammatical structure.
The scenario
The world of primary school has been in a phase of evolution for decades: changes go from technological innovations to more and more multi-ethnic classes, composed by children from different cultural backgrounds and competences. In this new scenario, teachers have a greater need for flexible educational tools to customize their teaching in order to meet the different needs and expertise of the students of increasingly diverse classrooms. The Jingle course is in line with the New National Guidelines regarding the learning process of the English language in primary school and allows students to reach level A1 goals of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The approach
The Characters, illustrations, contents and activities used on the course draw the attention of the students and are always in line with the age and competences acquired by the students year after year. All the support tools to textbooks and workbooks cleverly interact with each student along the path of study.
The approach is communicative and playful, full of a variety of engaging proposals. Whilst creating this course, a great deal of importance has been given to the Total Physical Response activities with a wide range of suggestions for games to play in couples, groups, songs, nursery rhymes and crafts that involve the students.
A lot of attention has been given to the needs of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
The methodology and didactic routine
Every volume contains 1 Welcome unit and 6 didactic units that follow a strict didactic routine, with a recurring scheme:
After completing these steps of the course, every unit ends with the pages dedicated to the assessment of the average goals (Jingle all the way) and of the culture and citizenship, with a double page that presents the analysis of authentic materials, a reflection on similarities or differences concerning traditions, as well as proposing CLIL projects covering themes such as respect for the environment and civilized coexistence.
This text is intended for Catering Institutes students that are attending their last year of study and who belong to "wine and food" and "dining and sale services" fields.
This book is in line with what has been stated by the Ministerial Directives of the new system where English language teaching contributes, (together with all the other subjects), to make students reach, (at the end of the five-year course of studies), a series of cultural and professional goals:
Moreover, the reform of the vocational institutes in the wine and food and hospitality fields expects foreign language teaching to integrate with professional skills oriented to the client using communication and relationship techniques to optimize the quality of service and the colleagues' coordination, as well as to promote and make local, national and international traditions valuable (by identifying new industry trends).
The volume is divided into four modules, one for each season. They follow the division of the academic year, beginning with autumn and ending with summer. Every module starts with a different season, covering, at the beginning, the related food, the method to prepare it and the recipes connected to it. This approach follows the current widespread trend in catering to promote the offer of seasonal products by offering appropriate menus, it also allows to easily organise the programme by dedicating two modules to each term that follow the season flow (first term: module 1 autumn and module 2 winter, second term: module 3 spring and module 4 summer).
The first module covers the aspects related to health and healthy nutrition through a discussion about meals and the different food styles.
The second module deals with new kitchen technologies and the current trends in the world of food service such as Slow Food and biological food.
The third module proposes an overview of eating habits of the main European and non-European countries, with the relative wine and food specialities.
The fourth module covers the alcoholic beverage, including wine and the main vine variety, liqueurs, spirits and beer.
At the end of every module there is a ‘Cooking the books’ section, which proposes students a 'taste' of literary extracts related to food and offers a cue and an incentive to read.
The theoretical parts of the text are shown clearly, simply and concisely, discussing the most current and most relevant aspects of the reality of food service, and are combined with a rich and various series of activities.
The new element that keeps the text up to date with new technologies is represented by links to different websites on which the student can find additional authentic materials useful to consolidate the skills acquired.
All of the material used for the realisation of the text is strictly authentic and up to date.
The volume comes together with a guide for the teacher containing the solutions of the exercices, the listening activities transcripts and proposals of written exams related to the programme.
Trends
A piece of the Classics collection of English literature is attached to every volume and freely downloadable from the website www.capitello.it.
Masters’ Voices has been structured to provide an essential overview of the authors, within an historical and literary context, and also provides elements of comparison through references to the world of music and art. Below a list of the qualifying elements of the book.
Masters’ Voices covers the development of literature in three volumes:
Every volume is divided into Sections, or areas of interest (nine overall: four in the first volume, two in the second, and three in the third).
Every volume ends with a Glossary of specific terms related to literature and art followed by an Index of Authors.
Every section of the three anthological volumes contains accurate references to the online expansions.
Before Section 1, the first volume presents a short chapter of introduction to the analysis of texts, Hints for Reading (Poetry, Drama e Fiction), split into two parts, with the opportunity to get a deeper understanding and further exercises on the Web book:
Section 9, The Colonies, the last one, is entirely dedicated to the authors coming from the greater non-European nations of English influence.
For each nation a short historic-literary presentation is provided to introduce the authors and texts, referring to the Web Book for detailed explanations, extensions and Snapshots.
The thematic volume Trends offers detailed explanations and extensions organised in six areas of interest: The Villain, Mystery, Adventure, Social Portraits, Humour and Society, Doubles. The aim is to allow the identification of alternative routes to the ones proposed in the three chronological volumes and also more suitable to the interests of the working group. This material can also provide excellent ideas for writing essays, especially if they are written following the several tips given throughout the three volumes.
Every Section is structured as below:
Beginning with the "browsebook" of all the paper volumes, the student can directly have access to all the multimedia resources that are part of the didactic proposal of Masters’ Voices.
The didactic proposal is enriched with an interesting course, usable also on the IWB (Interactive WhiteBoard), that offers a thematic area , The Gothic, present in a lot of literature and art pieces covered by Masters’ Voices. Rich of detailed explanations and ideas for reflection, this path proposes a series of interactive lessons that analyse authors and pieces highlighting their gothic element.

(running out of stock)
This booklet is addressed to high school students and it gives them the opportunity to to practise for and to pass the INVALSI test that will soon be introduced in the second year of the course.
Even though this exam has not been made official yet and the way it will be structured is not clear, we have thought to organise it so that the students' knowledge can be verified in all aspects: the comprehension of a text, the specific usage of the English language and grammar, but also considering the need to make a quick, simple and objective correction.
The material is structured as follows:
The texts have been composed choosing various topics, from those related to the programme to those specifically focused on people of this age group. They create an opportunity to expand students’ vocabulary, thanks to the glossary. Some words were not specifically included in the glossary as they were the object of exercises on the use of the language. In the multiple-choice exercises the four options are intentionally similar to each other. It is important that the student reads the text very carefully as the questions require only one correct answer.
Regarding the grammar, the exercices are drawn from structures present in the text and are intended to verify the acquisition of what has been covered in the two years of high school.
Beyond the mere exercise aimed at preparing students for the INVALSI test, this booklet is useful revision for different areas (such as comprehension, use of language and grammar) and tests that expand students’ vocabulary.
Get on Board is a technical English text for polytechnic schools specialising in Transport and Logistics. The second edition has new colour illustrations and its contents have been updated, to meet the educational needs of the new course organisation.
The text has a wide selection of topics, divided into didactic units. Each didactic unit is split into paragraphs that addresses the main topic from different perspectives. From this wide collection, the teacher can choose a modular path suitable to the needs of his classes, and find ideas for inter-disciplinary paths and CLIL.
The development of the texts and the combination of the exercises proposed to develop the four skills include various activities - such as “listen and complete”, “answer the questions”, “diagram study” and “notetaking” . These are developed to guide the student through the acquisition of reading skills, vocabulary and linguistic structures that he needs in order to consult, read and understand English- written materials specific to his own field of study, such as manuals and instructions for the use of machines or understanding urgent messages received via radio or via a teletype board, and be able to produce an appropriate answer message.
For this second edition, the authors have completely revised the texts, to make them easier for students and to update the references to the IMO rules, which take into account any changes that have occurred since the previous edition.
Among the new features of the current edition there are “project work” activities proposed at the end of each didactic unit. They consist of various activities of guided research on the Internet, for which there are specific pages and the related "links". These activities offer the opportunity to work on computers in the lab and further examine, through the web, the contents learned.
The grammar section, consisting of explanations and exercises, clarifies the main practical difficulties that students encounter in the study of technical language.
The text is accompanied by a glossary with the translation of the most frequent technical terms.
Each didactic unit is followed by a "test" for the written part, that includes exercises for both production and identification of terms. The Teacher's book contains the solution to the exercises proposed in the didactic units, the tests and the test key of each didactic unit, and the solution to the grammar exercises.

This re-publication of TRIGGER IN includes, in addition to basic technical topics and readings already present in the prior edition, an introduction aimed at verifying the starting levels of both grammar and vocabulary whose contents relate to the reality and language of the student. Furthermore, the text has been extended by inserting different pieces with structured grammar and linguistic exercises related or not, making it richer and updated.
CD with readings of some texts and dialogues to complete.
This small volume is addressed to junior high school students and gives them the opportunity to pass the INVALSI test expected in year three.
Exercising for this National Test is very important because only through practice the student can acquire self-confidence and confidence trust in his abilities.
This manual "trainer", offers the tools to understand how the tests are structured and how to execute them.
The material here presented is divided into two sections:
Every question has four possible answers and the student has to choose the one that, in his opinion, is the right one. The text has to be read carefully because the questions have only one right answer, but the choice options, if not understood thoroughly, are intentionally misleading and confusing.
To help the student, a small glossary has been added to each test. The topics presented are related to current events or to parts of the programme covered during the course of the year.
The vocabulary and grammatical structures are vast and refer to the whole English programme provided by the Ministry for the high school.
Grammar tests, conceived as supplementary training, are intended to help the student understand what are his "weak" points, and therefore, work to strengthen those grammatical topics that still need to be reviewed and studied.
From an operational point of view, the book advises the student to put a small cross on the answer he thinks fits best. If, after re-reading, the student thinks he was wrong, he can simply write "NO" next to the answer he would like to delete and put another small cross on the option he considers correct.
At the end, based on the correction the teacher provides, the student will be able to verify the outcome of the test and make the necessary reflections about the result obtained.
This volume is addressed to Professional Institutes students that are attending their last two years in the "dining and sale services" fields and it is divided into six modules which are split into units. After a first module that ( as in the text intended for the fellow students of the "wine and food" field), includes meals features and characteristics of different types of restaurants and menus, the second one brings the student in a restaurant hall where he is introduced to the vocabulary related to all equipment and utensils used in the service of food and beverages. Furthermore, it is accurately analysed the bar-room personnel tasks. On the other hand, the third module, focuses on the different types of coffee bars, its equipment and the types of drinks offered, including the most common cocktails. The fourth module is dedicated to the dialogues that take place in a restaurant between the staff and customers and. It highlights both the importance and pertinence of the language used, as well as the ability to easily handle all the possible situations a member of the staff could face. The fifth module addresses the importance of a close relationship between the restaurateur and consumer. The text ends with a rich overview of Italian cooking products.
These two texts are intended for Catering Institute students that are attending their third and fourth year of study. For the last year of the course, a publication of a text common to both the "wine and food" and "dining and sales services" fields is expected.
These books are in agreement with what has been stated in the Ministerial Directives of the new system whereby the teaching of English contributes, along with the other subjects, to make students reach, at the end of the five-year course of studies, a series of cultural and professional goals:
Moreover, the reform of vocational services for food and wine and hospitality expects the foreign language to be taught so that it integrates with customer-oriented professional skills using techniques of communication to optimize the quality of service and the colleagues’ coordination, as well as to enhance and promote local, national and international traditions.
These two volumes are divided into modules, which are split into units, that (starting from topics concerning specific sectors), develop and enrich themselves in an articulate way and in a multiracial context.
Within each module a 'Development' section has been added: a detailed explanation dedicated to some particularly interesting aspects of food service combined with activities that aim to attract students’ curiosity, and every module includes a section called 'Festivities' concerning feast days and traditions related and the 'Waiting for the next course' section that proposes extra activities to strengthen the topics that have been covered.

The second module brings the student to a professional kitchen to study its equipment, its tools and the environment management. Cooking methods and gastronomic preparations which form the basis of Italian cooking are the third module's topics and provide a clear continuation to the fourth, where there is a closer look at the food we eat and where we can find out its features and virtues. The fifth module examines different forms of specialised food service, as the ones in schools, hospitals or the one provided by airline companies, giving many examples of original menus. The last module offers a wide and detailed overview of the regional Italian cooking( as provided for in the ministerial directive), and presents the manifold treasure of our cooking in a captivating and pleasant way through a journey that doesn't leave out any Italian region.

A complete book with holidays activities, to verify and examine in depth the work done during the year of study, about the main foreign languages. |
A unique text, two subjects belonging to the linguistic field: the English language, usually first foreign language, combined with the second foreign language, chosen among French, Spanish and German.
DUO is a project for the holidays, in two volumes combined with a CD, it offers a revision of the two languages required for junior high school. It is structured in a calibrated way, as it considers the different amount of hours assigned to the first and to the second language. By consequence, a more considerable amount of pages is dedicated to English, in proportion to the greater amount of weekly teaching hours. In both languages the main goal is to direct first and second class students to a complete revision that allows to strengthen the knowledge assimilated during the year and prepare for a return to school, after the summer break. The whole project of matching two languages can be combined with any course because it is based on topics usually covered in the first and second class. Clear and linear work paths that allow the students to work autonomously and revise basic topics. In every path a wide range of exercices allows students to develop specific skills, while the consolidation of grammar structures is provided by concise grammar sheets.
For the teacher A file reserved to the teacher gives solutions to the activities and the listening exercises for each volume. Moreover, there is a final test that the teacher can use to check the homework done during the holidays or as an entry test.
A friendly greeting to the summer! This text is an invitation to approach summer time without forgetting what has been studied during the school year.
HELLO SUMMER! is a text for summer holidays in two volumes with an audio CD, designed for the first and the second class of the junior high school.
It allows students to work alone carrying out the proposed activities directly on the book. Everyone is able to practice the foreign language thanks to clear training paths and simple exercises, reinforced by examples.
HELLO SUMMER! is divided into seven teaching units, to be carried out during seven weeks of vacation. It focuses on topics of everyday life, presented by a teenager who acts as a guide. Each unit is supported by comprehensive grammar cards ordered according to a difficulty progression.
The graduality remains in fact one of the cornerstones of the text that allows students to carry out an effective review of the English language. The reading comprehension is approached through engaging stories presented by funny comics and images to help the learners understanding. The last pages of each volume include a glossary which helps to enrich the lexical knowledge.
HELLO SUMMER! has a great number of assessment tests created to help students during the summer revision to develop their language skills, so as grammar structures, vocabulary and speaking.
Attached to both levels there is a booklet for teachers with the keys of all the exercises and the transcriptions of listening activities.
